SCOPE OF ROLE
In this internship within the legal department, you will work closely with and support the Norstella Compliance and Privacy functions. Work will be varied and connected to projects planned for 2024 delivery; from researching subjects, preparing systems for project roll out and collating data, to presenting analysis and partnering and collaborating with other team members. This role will suit an aspiring legal professional who has an interest in automation and project work, gaining an understanding into how a Legal function in an organization intertwines in business operations.
In this role you will:  
 
Compliance 
  • Assist in creating and deploying a gift & entertainment repository in Norstella’s Disclosure Management tool, create process flow
  • Policy drafting and reviews (update and manage the overall policy repository)
  • Review potential sanction red flags, consider mitigations and escalate issues 
  • Support data collection for annual CDP disclosure (deadline for compliance is end of July) 
  • Review most recent SFO and DOJ Compliance programme guidance and create briefing note 

Privacy

  • Maintain records of personal information processing activities and vendor due diligence in our privacy management system.
  • Assist in developing data protection and privacy related governance policies and frameworks and support their implementation and rollout. 
  • Assist in researching legal topics on privacy and data protection and liaising with the Head of Privacy to form coherent business advice and support organisational queries. 
  • Monitor the handling of data subject rights requests received by Norstella. 
  • Respond to third-party (customer) questionnaires and inquiries. 

HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED

 
  • Interest in the compliance and privacy disciplines and how they form part of an organization’s structure
  • Interest in being a part of a corporate legal department
  • Willingness and interest in working on a broad array of compliance and privacy related issues with appropriate guidance and support from members of the Norstella Team
  • Preparing legal research and analysis as needed
  • Collaborating on Legal operations projects
  • Drafting processes efficiently and in collaboration with others

WHAT IT TAKES

  • You will have an interest in the compliance and privacy disciplines and how they form part of an organization’s structure
  • You are a self-starter who can work independently but follow the directions provided
  • You have strong attention to detail and a desire to learn 
  • You can quickly assimilate legal definitions and information applicable to the organisation 
  • You have experience using Microsoft 365 suite such as Excel and Word
