Job description

We are looking to grow to the next level with the help of an outstanding Data Engineer in our downtown Boston office (this is a hybrid position which means working in the office once a week.)
As a Data Engineer, you will assist with the mapping of new healthcare data sources into our state-of-the-art analytics platform, IHD. In undertaking this challenge, you will be working with the latest distributed cloud computing technologies to process, transform, and configure large healthcare data sources for our SaaS clients. The ideal candidate will have analytics and data engineering background, object-oriented programming experience, and a strong desire to continue learning and improving their abilities.

As a member of Panalgo's Data Engineering Team, you'll have opportunities to work with cutting-edge distributed-computing technologies, in addition to a highly scalable and dynamic transformation layer built in-house.

Key duties and responsibilities:      

  • Operate as an individual contributor by designing, building, and maintaining a highly scalable data loading and transformation pipeline
  • Ensure that the backend data processing platform meets business requirements and industry practices for security and privacy
  • Integrate new technologies and tools into existing platform
  • Tooling, infrastructure, and core pipeline development
  • Provide architecture and design support
  • Partner with data vendors and end users to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production bugs
  • Manage multiple projects with divergent deadlines, and prioritize accordingly
  • Manage and improve existing Big-Data ETL processes
  • Create readable code that adheres to existing practices and standards

Key requirements

  • 3+ years of software/data development experience
  • 3+ years of experience with general purpose scripting language, Ruby preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working on ETL pipelines and data loading automation
  • 3+ years of object-oriented programming experience, Java preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience working with a NoSQL database, Apache Spark, AWS, Java, and Ruby
  • Healthcare data industry experience

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $105,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
