Job Description

As an Analyst I you will be responsible for the production of high-quality competitive analysis across a broad range of diseases within a therapy area. Core objectives include conducting primary and secondary research to create robust clinical and commercial assessments and SWOT analyses of key marketed and pipeline drugs, analyzing current prescribing trends, providing insightful commentary on the impact of new trial data/drug approvals, and forecasting disease landscapes over the next 10 years. You will also be responsible for responding to clients’ Ask the Analyst queries and supporting consulting/ad-hoc projects as necessary. These objectives are achieved through developing an understanding of the Citeline portfolio of solutions and various secondary data sources.

This is an individual contributor position. While the majority of day to day work will be independent, the analyst is expected to collaborate with more senior level members of the team as well as with other colleagues within the commercial and clinical domains as needed.

Key duties and responsibilities

Content Production

  • Monitor news sources on a daily basis to identify key events within disease markets, and comment on such events in the Biomedtracker platform, if warranted.
  • Review company earnings announcements to stay abreast of their activities and develop an understanding of their pipeline and disease focus, as well as to identify triggers for forecast updates.
  • Author original analysis on the healthcare industry in various formats, including disease landscape reports, commentary on emerging clinical trial results, and thought leadership pieces on industry trends.
  • Be able to extract key trends from primary and secondary research, to be reviewed by project manager. Time needed for changes and discussions expected to decrease with each project, following project manager feedback.
  • Consistently select most appropriate source of information and ensure sources used are referenced with sources documented and saved.
  • Collate and cross-reference data from interviews with key opinion leaders, Citeline solutions, and multiple secondary sources to build robust patient-based forecast models, under guidance from project manager.
  • Be able to defend assumptions and data points when questioned by clients.
  • Monitor scientific conference coverage (in person or remotely) and produce post-conference reports.
  • Contribute insightful analysis on upcoming catalysts to Quarterly Outlook reports.
  • Gain industry knowledge with completion of each project. This is demonstrated by depth and accuracy of analysis and ability to draw realistic assumptions that fill gaps in knowledge.

 Written analysis

  • Author insightful and well-supported analysis, including disease analysis reports, Biomedtracker commentary, and white papers/miscellaneous thought leadership pieces where appropriate. All writing must be in clear and concise business English.
  • With guidance from manager and other analysts, develop the ability to write in house style and pyramid principle writing style.
  • Work towards producing high quality written content that requires minimal input from manager and editorial team on structure/grammar, such that content is client-ready.
  • Incorporate feedback on writing style/structure from project managers and the editorial team.

Primary research

  • Design and conduct key opinion leader interviews, with guidance from project manager, to gain insight on current prescribing trends, gauge opinions on pipeline drugs, and identify unmet needs.
  • Prepare anonymized transcripts for publication.
  • Develop discussion topics for physicians to be posted on Skipta platform, both to gain insights to support analysis and forecasts, and to support Skipta’s objectives.

Time management

  • Produce high quality content within timelines specified by the project manager and alert the project manager of any expected delays.
  • Develop a realistic understanding of how long different tasks will take and understand when to escalate timeline issues with project manager.
  • Demonstrate ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize content appropriately.

Client Support

  • Provide support to clients via the Ask the Analyst service, with assistance from manager where necessary.
  • Develop cross-product knowledge to assist with search strategies across Citeline solutions.
  • Defend analysis on content published on the syndicated service with guidance from senior team members.
  • Develop ability to explain research and patient-based forecasting methodologies and discuss the rationale behind key assumptions.
  • Support sales team as required during demos/client visits regarding DMHC therapy area-specific content.

  • Attend role-specific training workshops as requested.
  • Support team during absences, e.g. providing input into client requests via the Ask the Analyst service.
  • Network with colleagues in other parts of the business, to support sales/marketing/consulting processes where required.
  • Successfully communicate (in persons and remotely) and build a working relationship with all functional teams including the editorial team, epidemiology team, forecasting analysts, and other therapy area teams.
  • Provide commentary for the Insights teams using acquired disease expertise.
  • Provide commentary/interviews for external PR purposes in their disease expertise.
  • Be able to collaborate with team members by sharing relevant knowledge/discussing methodologies during team meetings.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned to support overall Citeline objectives.
